Montalvo believes that the arts elevate the human spirit, unite people of diverse backgrounds, enhance our lives, and immeasurably enrich our community, and we are actively working to transform the cultural landscape of Silicon Valley.

EVERY YEAR, MONTALVO:
  • Serves over 18,000 children with a wealth of innovative educational initiatives. Our Teaching Artist Program continues to set the standard for arts integration in the classrooms of local schools, training students and teachers to collaborate on problems creatively. Our Performing Arts Series introduces South Bay students—half of whom attend Title 1 schools—to the joys of live theatre, dance, and music. Our summer camps and field trips are available to children regardless of their ability to pay. We continuously strive to enrich the lives of Silicon Valley youth.
  • Hosts over 100 world-class artists, painters, writers, musicians, sculptors, social practice artists, and more in our Sally and Don Lucas Artists Residency (LAP). The oldest program of its kind west of the Mississippi, the LAP brings some of the most acclaimed artists from around the world to the South Bay to develop exciting new work and engage with visitors. Past Fellows include Pulitzer Prize-winners, Guggenheim Fellows, Doris Duke Awardees, and MacArthur Geniuses.
  • Welcomes nearly a quarter million residents and visitors to our grounds. Whether they attend a concert, an exhibit, a summer luncheon, a public celebration, or hike our scenic trails and enjoy the serenity of our gardens, inspiration, beauty, and excitement await them here 364 days a year.
